FIELD SERVICES
On-site tubular handling training and monitoring can greatly reduce the risk of damage to your drill string connections.
Command Tubular Field Services provides field training and advice on:
- Checking that the top drive's counterbalance valve works correctly
- Confirming top drive and iron roughneck torque output with tongs and a recently calibrated load cell before running the connection
- Keeping thread protectors on both the box and pin ends of every component when moving it from the pipe racks to the rig floor
- Inspecting connections for damage
- Using a copper-based thread compound (Jet-Lube Special or equivalent), without over-doping the threads
- Using a stabbing guide to reduce thread damage
- Alternating the connections broken out when tripping out of the hole
- Reinstalling all thread protectors when laying down pipe
